Development Audit
The purpose of a development audit is to identify steps
you can take that will increase your fundraising revenue.
A development
audit looks at an organization's resource devlopment efforts
and resources "from
soup to nuts" to
identify areas of challenge and opportunity. Fundraising
never stands alone in an organization. It is part of an integrated
whole that works collaboratively.
A Development Audit helps determine whether your organization
is meeting the standards of practice required to assure successful
fundraising.
A Development Audit is recommended if the organization:
- Is not satisfied with the results of its annual giving program
- Would like to increase Board participation in its development
program
- Wants to establish a baseline by which to measure
its development program
- Wants an independent review of how to make
the development program more effective
- Needs to diversify its funding streams
- Is engaged in a strategic planning process
- Is preparing to embark on a major capital or
endowment campaign
- Wants to take its program to a higher level
